Which bands + albums have influenced you most in who you are as a person?

oasis albums
AngelFalls asked:

For me it would definitely be:

Foo Fighters (particularly ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’)
Metallica (I owe a lot to ‘Master of Puppets’)
Alice In Chains (lest we forget ‘Dirt’)
Nirvana (‘Nevermind’…always on my mind anyway)
Led Zeppelin (I adore the earthy sounds on ‘Led Zeppelin III’)
Iron Maiden (‘Run to the Hills’ was my childhood anthem)
Coldplay (‘Parachutes’ sends shivers down my spine)

Special mentions: Slayer, Sabbath, Mudvayne, Oasis, Rammstein and the epic Faith No More.

=)

    Iron Maiden-Iron Maiden
Was the first full metal album I’ve ever heard. Changed my tastes to metal, showed me to appreciate a full album, and not just singles.

    Alice Cooper-Billion Dollar Babies
No More Mr. Nice Guy was the first piece of music I remember hearing, and music has become a major passion in my life. The album as a whole rocks too.

Kashmir by Zeppelin has always struck a cord with me. I think it’s a past life thing. Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Also, a lot of 90′s music, some of it girly but who cares. Spice Girls, Oasis, Savage Garden, Bush. Every single No Doubt song. Tragic Kingdom was my theme cd for all of my youth.

Since you said which albums and bands , I’m not gonna state every album by my favorite bands and I’m gonna vary it :

[1] Led Zeppelin —> IV or ZOSO (It started my Rock passion and changed my life forever)

[2] The Jimi Hendrix Ex. —> ARE YOU EXPERIENCED (After this album , I believed in magic)

[3] Rory Gallagher —> RORY GALLAGHER 1971 (The most beautiful tribute to souls and emotions told by a guitar)

[4] Thin Lizzy —> JAILBREAK (The only album in Rock’s history that is love , passion and Rocking so hard at the same time)

[5] The Doors —> THE DOORS 1967 (the album that made me feel proud of being a lizard king’s fan and a great lover that steels women’s hearts at the same time !!!!!!)

[6] Deep Purple —> MACHINE HEAD (it contains the riff that started me rambling and mumbling)

[7] Cream —> DISRAELI GEARS (three of my life’s anthems are on this album “Sunshine ..” , “Strange …” and “Tales …”)

[8] King Crimson —> IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING (the album that you can argue any Rock N Roll hater with especially those saying RNR isn’t sophisticated and complex)

[9] Pink Floyd —> WISH YOU WERE HERE (I just dream while I’m awake when listening to it)

[10] Nick Drake —> FIVE LEAVES LEFT (I just live with the man and after this album , I sometimes get shivers when listening to Acoustic more than Electric)

[11] Black Sabbath —> BLACK SABBATH (It contains two of my manhood anthems “The Wizard” and “A Little Bit Of Finger (Sleeping Village Warning “The combined 14 minutes epic”) )

    …etc. too many not mentioned

grateful dead, bob dylan, neil young, crosby stills and nash (w/ and w/o young), paul simon, james taylor, 10,000 maniacs, tracy chapman, donovan, jackson browne,…..

… Songs about peace love happiness and real life struggles are what hepled form who I am as a person.

Although this is a very narrow margin of all the music I listen to, since much of my music I like for other reasons.
