Just how significant were Oasis in music?

Oasis albums
ryan h asked:

I love the guys, but rolling stone didnt even have one of thier albums in their top 500 albums of all time. Were they seen as `defining` in the music industry or just a flash in the pan?
Cheers guys.

well they were one of the big britpop bands back when that was popular, along with blind melon and blur and such. the beatles had such a huge influence on them that it shone through just a little too much in their songs which is probably why they aren’t as big as they once were anymore. still, they’ve made some good accessible rock and pop music that people still love to hear today, so who knows?

I love Oasis myself but don’t worry about that Rolling Stone,The Rock n Roll hall of Fame,MTV or the Grammy’s those are garbage for garbage rock fans

Im not saying i **** those things but i just think your brain should be the decider of your music tastes not parading bands around so you have to like them

Well, they have quite a lot of enemies, especially all the bands and singers they think nothing of slanging off. I like about 2 albums worth of their songs but a lot of people see them as more influential than they were/are.

    xx
