Oasis is better because the 2 brothers always getting into trouble make them a real band

Man… I haven’t thought about this question since high school.
I guess I can only choose by the state of mind I’m in (or was in). Blur is pretty good to rock out with, but I loved Oasis so much in my teens because I admired and emulated their 90s-mod pretentiousness.

Decisions, decisions… Oasis wins on nostalgia factor and because if you look at the doors of my childhood bedroom in just the right way you can still see the blue pain inspired by the “Champagne Supernova” video.

Blur to me is the clear winner. Their body of work shows more range and complexity than Oasis. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love some Oasis songs–but that’s the thing, I only like a couple songs (which by the way, sound almost identical), whereas with Blur, the more discover about their music, the more it’s like you must have every album, recording, b-side, bootleg, etc. Oasis makes great “hits,” no doubt, but Blur overall are the finer musicians, in that their non-singles are just as good, if not better, than their popular numbers.

I also like the way Blur evolved over time. They’re like the Beatles in that you can tell exactly what point in time a song was based on its style. And they’re more experimental, showing influence from as wide a range as shoegazer, ska, punk, etc. Oasis has remained virtually unchanged in all the years, it’s like they produce the same type of song over and over again. Anyway, that’s my opinion, Blur all the way, mate!
