my favourite film is the deer hunter , truly amazing acting and shows how the powers that be always have an impact on all our lives somehow regardless of who and were we are in our lives.
my favourite band is joy division because there original and every song has escaped the grasp of the corporate fat cats and stays with the band and what they want to say.
favourite song this is a tricky one as there are many i love but ive gotta say redemption song by bob marley a true classic.
favourite album has gotta be definitely maybe by oasis as i loved this album and still sounds better than anything they have done to date , i think the new albums good but there first album was part of my growing up.
I used to be so motivated & enthusiastic in forming a band (here in Indonesia, my home country), since people told me that i have a huge musical talent that would be unfortunate if not used.
but it’s not until i’ve found one fact: there are already LOTS & lots of bands (good or bad) already outside, and from what i’ve seen here in my home country, most of them will just ‘died-out’ or go down in music cycle. a band’s cycle is usually short, only lasts for top 3 or 4 years, after that…they ‘died’ , and will be replaced by another “trendy” band. and so on.. my dad often uses this argument to discourage me for making career in music (or in band), point to it (music career) as a short-living career, and “wasting time”, and he pushed me to go for career in business (which unfortunately i lack skill, and even passion at. i view myself as very creative & imaginative person, not so much of logical & business-minded person).
but back to the band-cycle thing again, do you think my dad’s words is true or not?
well, to be fair, i’ve found SOME bands/musicians/artists even here in Indonesia, who’ve still lasted long, and keep making music. and from what i’ve seen, it’s either they’re really talented artists/bands/musicians that kept producing great, innovative, and evolving music, or they have strong image that’s so unforgettable, or both. ie: look at Beatles, Queen, for example. even Oasis still produce albums, right?.. so is my dad’s opinion wrong?
i’m confused here.
NOFX?
ramones?
nirvana?
Oasis?
Offspring?
Bon Jovi?
rise against?
operation ivy?
This week I’ve heard
System of a Down- Toxicity
Oasis- What’s the Story Morning Glory?
Paul McCartney- Ram
You add the 4th
i was looking at some of these lists people compose (just google overrated bands)
& well a few of them have RHCP.
i’m a die hard fan & most likely will bite your A** off if you bad mouth them in your answer without very good reason (things like ”they sound the same” won’t count)
but i don’t see how they are overrated, a popular band yes. but that is due to their own endeavours & producing 2 albums that are considered the high points of the 90s (Blood Sugar is possibly one of the most influential funk-rock albums ever).
BQ:WHY WHY WHY are oasis never in these polls? they had 2 good albums, the rest is the most repetitive boring s*it i’ve heard since i listened to Eoghan Quiggs debut album (x factor irish guy last year, supposedly it is considered one of the worst albums ever
)
mind you few of these polls put G N R, Coldplay Nirvana & The Beatles in.
I’ve been listening to Radiohead and their music has like changed my life. I have every b-side and album of theirs. I also have every oasis b-side and album, every R.E.M. b-side and album and every Travis album and b-side xD. Listen to a bit of Jet and Bloc Party too. Radiohead and Travis are by far my favorites, so I’m just wondering if there is anything similar to that out there to add to my music collection? I
This is your opinion obviously. mine is with out a doubt U2 or oasis because all their albums sound the same and not a good same it’s just boring and safe, however despite pushing the boundaries of mediocrity people go crazy for them.
These are the current bands I like :
Snow Patrol
Arctic Monkeys
Coldplay
Red
Crossfade
The Killers
Skillet
Oasis
Kings of Leon
The Prodigy
Pendulum
I’d like to know any bands similar to this, or any of your favourites.
